How I Work

It is not necessary in my practice to push patients to talk about negative or traumatic events as traditional talk therapy used to do.  Mind-body or neurobiologically-based psychotherapies are created on a foundation of "resources" - strengths, positive feelings, good places in your life. First, we always enhance these strong areas. We limit your exposure to negative or dis-empowering thoughts in the beginning.

Later, after we have a safe, positive foundation to work from, if it naturally comes up, we integrate more challenging thoughts and experiences.  We do this as your body signals that it becomes ready to take them on. This is the most efficient way to get effective results that change your life in the long-term after therapy.

Our work together is always collaborative. This means that I will constantly seek feedback and input from you to create sessions that are responsive to your needs.

I will teach you tools and body self-regulation techniques, which you will try to see how effective they are for you in between therapy sessions. The ultimate objective is to create greater resilience within you.  This will give you strength in meeting the challenging nature of an ever changing life with greater satisfaction.

For some clients, after engaging in a foundation of work together, we can integrate some phone sessions into a portion of our treatment.
